More signs of Spring

Jon digging (yet) another hole...

My new anukshuk that Shane built for me (since he ran down my old one)...

Green fields of growing wheat....

Momma duck has picked her man....

A new nest in the barn...

It's still a little wet in some spots in the yard....

A shy wee visitor...

The willow buds are forming...

And good old Sam has a few new sprouts...

Full Pink Moon Dreamboard

I don't have an answer this month. I continue to struggle with what comes next for me and I continue to ask God for guidance.

I always ask for my guidance to come to me in a way I can understand and this month God and I did a few things differently.

For example:
  • I always do my dream boards/vision boards with music playing and this month it was almost completely silent (as silent as it can be with 3 dogs!)
  • I always do them sitting on my bed with everything spread out around me and today I did it at the kitchen table.
  • Usually I use a little storage box that has everything I need in it (scissors, glue, pretty markers, etc.), today I just used whatever was around the kitchen.
  • I always do them first thing in the morning and today I did it in the early evening.

I'm not sure what the changes were about, but I'm trusting that it was all in an effort to guide me and because I can be stubborn and I think I have a (bad) habit of missing things I'm staying open to what I'm being guided to.

Wishcasting Wednesday

I wish for healing in the very centre of my being. I wish for healing in the very deepest depths of my heart.

I'm so tired of struggling and of not feeling like I'm enough.

I want to know that I'm not broken and that I'm enough.

Just like I am right now.
Without having to earn it.

It's Wishcasting Wednesday

I could answer this question in about a million different ways but what I've actively been working on lately is perfectionism.

Many years ago I fancied myself a "real" artist and a "serious" artist and then life and some particularly unpleasant people got in the way. Life has a habit of doing that and I have - no had, a way of letting people crap on my dreams. But not anymore.

My boys are almost grown now so I have more time on my hands and I've been using some of it to explore my creativity again. I've been working on my studio and doing some fun projects to get my feet wet.

I recently finished a fun and easy floorcloth and because my studio is way too small, in need of more storage I decided to paint an ugly old filing cabinet to hold all sorts of supplies.

I've been lightening up by not putting too much pressure on myself to make everything perfect and by just having fun. With my floorcloth and filing cabinet I  made them bright, fun and imperfect on purpose.

I know I'll never be able to be consistently creative when I allow perfectionism to take over, but when I lighten up and allow myself to have fun who knows what I can come up with.

Here's my filing cabinet...Sorry no before pictures because my computer died and took them with it :-(

My Newest Floorcloth

When I was doing my Studio Overhaul in the middle of March I came across a floorcloth that I had started and forgotten about under the mess.

Since it's trying hard to be spring around here I decided on a bright fun daisy design.

Here's the finished floorcloth at home in my kitchen where it will live until I get bored/make another one/move it.

The quote is by Annie Dillard, and it reads "How we spend our days is, of course how we spend our lives."

Doesn't it look bright and cheery? It makes me feel like spring is here!

Signs of Spring

Here are 10 signs that tell me spring has actually arrived in my little slice of heaven.

1.  I'm wearing my wellies when I'm out in the yard.

 2.  This is why I'm wearing my wellies in the yard.

3.  Vast bodies of water.

 4.  Astro enjoying our 'ponds'.

5.  Astro checking out every single new smell.

 6.  New buds on the apple trees.

7.  New buds on the maple trees.

8.  The protective teepees have come off the trees.

9.  A messy/dirty kitchen floor no matter how much we wipe the girls down.

10. And finally - the very best sign of are starting to grow!!

P.S. I haven't been around much lately because my computer died and with it went all my files, photos and software. I'm currently sharing Jon's while I figure out what to do with/about mine so please bear with me.

You never know where you're going to come across beauty.

Bradley and I were at Algonquin College for an open house today looking into one of the programs he's interested in and while we were wandering around the college we came upon a living wall.

I've been fascinated by them for years and I've never seen one in person. The one at Algonquin is huge and stunning.

Check it out....

Love List

I'm a day late because I was too busy enjoying Easter to even think of the computer.

What a great week this past week was!

I'm so grateful for:

~ Waking up every morning to the sounds of bird song
~ Bradley getting his portfolio completed in plenty of time
~ A (mostly) tidy house
~ A movie date with Jon (even though he picked a bad movie!)
~ Shane coming home for Easter
~ 2 Easter dinners - one with my Mom at her place
                            - and one here with Jon's parents
~ Several hours spent painting
~ Apple crumble pie (I love, love love apple crumble pie.)
